The Power of Scent for Emotional Balance

If you aren't already convinced of the power of essential oils aromatically, then let me see if this helps to convince you.  I was recently reminded of the power of anesthesia.  I don't know about you, but I have been "put out" a number of times in my life for various medical reasons.  I don't like the feeling of having no control over my alertness.  On more than one occasion, I fought that feeling, but it got the best of me only seconds later.  You breathe in something that hits your olfactory lobe and within a matter of seconds, you are in a deep sleep.  Your olfactory lobe, sends a signal to the brain that basically "knocks you out".  How can this be?  

If you know this uncontrollable feeling, then you understand the power of simply breathing in something aromatically.   Essential oils research is definitely on the rise and the power of aromatherapy to impact mood or to create calmness for better sleep is real and it's powerful.  

Here are a few of my personal favorites: 

Citrus Oils are Up-lifting.  I don't think it's possible to actually be angry and smell orange oil at the same time.  The Mint oils are energetic and make us more aware.  Then we have our calming flower and tree scents.  A deep inhale of Douglas Fir provides us with a feeling of grounding.
